Inventory
Valuations
Inventory valuations
on behalf of asset based lenders, company managers, and their advisors
have taken on increasing significance during the 1990's. Clients often
need additional valuation
information beyond the scope of cost-based accounting measures. M.E.I.
Corporation can provide inventory valuation services that fit these
needs.
In most cases,
our work plan will require the following data:
-
Facility
Information
The location(s) of the assets and/or concentrations of inventory will
affect our planning. If centralized accounting at a major site can
provide data for all locations, this usually suffices and can curtail
expenses.
-
Accounting
Information
If a costed perpetual inventory can be provided in advance of our
visit, this facilitates early analysis and effective site visit planning.
-
Management
Introduction
A brief (usually <30 minutes) phone interview with management of the
appraisal subject can inform us of distribution channels, production
methods, etc. which can aid in engagement planning and cost estimation.
With
the three elements cited above, M.E.I. Corporation can in most cases
provide a fee estimate and a fixed pricing proposal to the engaging
parties. In many instances, our firm can provide preliminary valuation
results (without narrative) within five business days of a site visit.
In turn, we also are mindful of the time required for peer review of
our work by the engaging organization before release to the ultimate
client.
Our inventory valuation reports
are supported by the analytical results of our site visit, review of
trade/technical press data about the industry in question, and blind
interviewing of third party industry observers/participants. Our valuations
have been tested via actual liquidation and found to be acceptable.
We encourage you to pose
any questions regarding our inventory valuation services or our joint
venture fixed asset inventory management system.
